    Hi guys,

Was looking to add a C-shape to my collection. I thought the dial was good on this one, the brushing on the case looks a little worn(?) but I was under the impression the back gaskets were supposed to be black. Anyone got any pointers or think that should be cause for alarm?

It's the original Omega gasket, not a problem.

Well, it is a problem if you get the watch.

If it's the original yellow gasket. It's probably harder than a stale donut now and will need a new gasket to ensure integrity.

Am I right in thinking the brushing looks a little worn?

No, that's not too bad. The good thing is that the case original and not polished. The camfers are intact and that is a big plus.

Clear indication that the watch needs servicing, as is the rotor rubbing on the case back...

That's a NFW in decent condition. A watchmaker who's skilled in doing a correct light case refinish could make that look great.

Archer, is there a reason that the rotor rubs on the case back?

Yes, the pinion for the rotor is worn and needs replacing. Should be done as part of a competent service.

I see a lot of these where the black paint on the hands has started to sort of melt off. Is this something that gets redone on service or is that paramount to redialing?

Hands can be repainted if there is a surface to paint on, but as to the impact that is a collector question, not a watchmaking question.

I'm sure some would rather have it kept original, or install a better set of vintage hands, while others may accept "repainting" or new hands.

It's how they say "Nice watch" in New Joiseyese.

I'll leave the "F" to your imagination.
