I will actually have the privilege of attending the Winter games in Italy this year. Will be leaving tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to share some photos here. Biatholon, luge, skeleton, curling, ice hockey and speed skating are what I have tickets for at this moment, but might be able to see more depending on the schedule. The one event I am missing and would like to attend will be bobsleigh, but I’m hoping to be able to watch and photograph practice. I have done plenty of car racing photos, but never something like this so the learning curve may be high.

I have been given an assignment from one of my neighbors/plant waterer. She taught Kristen Santos-Griswold in kindergarten and my assignment is to try and get a picture. Nothing like a challenge. I will be representing Omega at the Olympics.

I approve! Include some wrist shots, and enjoy!

I am sure it will be a fantastic experience. Which events are you looking forward to seeing most? Are you going to buy any Olympic suveniours? I always buy a fridge magnet, partly to help me remember where I have been and partly because it is a cheap and portable suveniour.

I may buy a few t shirts for myself. Neighbor wiho watches the house gets the refrigerator magnets. Other neighbors dogs will get bandanas so they can be the best dressed dogs in the hood. Leaving Keflavik this morning.

Mostly looking forward to biathlon. Cross country skiing and then calming your self to be able to hit a target with a gun. Combining a mostly physical activity with a zen like activity is to me the most disciplined thing possible. You could be the best skier on the planet, but miss a shot and it’s over.

Not sure why the USA team would even allow Lindsey Vonn compete.
Because she is an outstanding athlete, and competing at the top of the game this year.

Yeah that was hard to watch with Vonn. Seemed like a really bad idea to even try given the ACL tear, but she did seem to ski well in the training run. I find it hard to believe you can ski at all with a torn ACL but apparently it is possible. Look forward to the photos.

What do you mean? There's a whole qualifying process. She qualified. She then tore her ACL. She was medically cleared. She completed her required training runs. She gave consent. It's a medical decision not one based on media drama.

Her Acl was torn.
Yet her knee was stabile as determined by her surgeons, and training staff. Had she not have hooked that gate, she would have completed the run.

Quite the grueling day yesterday. Did get to see the curling finals. Biathlon pictures from the event yesterday. Today is luge.

Luge has been the most difficult thing I have ever taken pictures of. TV does no justice to the speeds involved. The other issue is you can’t really hear the sleds on the way down. Spray and pray saved the day. Many more to post later. Luge was a lot of fun.
Pictures of luge may be too large for my internet right now.
