·As a result of my random watch searches I recently won an auction for a WW2 era watch that has an interesting name on the back. Firstly, I have NO idea when it comes to watches of this vintage as to what is correct, what is a good movement, dial condition etc. This one looks to have at least had a replacement crystal and crown. Dial is appealing to me. I just wanted a small watch of that era as I haven't had one that old before.
Anyways, moving on to the inscription. Looks to me that is says Steven Melnikoff. After a quick google, I can only find one older guy by that name and he is still alive by the looks of it. Do you reckon its the same fella? Not a common combination of first and last name I would have thought. The rough engraving has corrosion in it so doesn't look like a recent addition. I don't have it in my hands yet but it looks like there is a number there too. Possible army service number?
I wonder if there a way to reach out to see if its his old watch?
