If I were to hazard a guess it would be because of exotic skins used in some straps, which would cause problems with CITES regarding importing/exporting them.
That could be a good point, its historically been very difficult to import certain straps (especially more exotic gator skins) into Australia so I've often had to settle for sort of printed calfskin equivalents at times, @STANDY will know more about the specifics but quarantine is taken very seriously here and in some other islands that are free of certain overseas diseases.
Same with US ... one of my UG Uni had the original lizard strap but I had to pass on it due to import restrictions.
Yeah, you should see Andy's collection of "confiscated" exotic straps. Crocodile, Alligator, Caiman, Gharial, Komodo Dragon, Penguin, Whale Foreskin...................he's got 'em all!
For US import, it depends of the crocodile hives nature... Some are ok, others not ... I am quite sure the porosus is ok and niloticus as well, with the CITES of course.
Maybe you need to buy a Swedish flag NATO in Sweden, German flag NATO in Germany, Italian flag NATO in Italy, a Brazilian in Brazil, blah blah blah .... you get the idea.
Just went through this buying a NATO for my wife's DeVille. I think the new country coloured ones (I got her the light blue/white stripe which I'm guessing is meant to represent Argentina) were only sent to certain countries. Took a few weeks to get her one in, but was told they can order any.
Replying to the first post. Some countries will not ship straps to countries that have boutiques already. Quietly. .... Platypuses make the best water proof straps
I think this is the real reason why Omega won't ship to another country. First, they don't want to deal with the customs issues. Second, why should they incur costs for international shipping and customs if there is a closer option (thinking of you, EU). gatorcpa
