All right people, help me not to waste my hard-earned money on a bad Speedy ! So, we have here a 105.003-63. All right. Wrong chrono hand, no biggie. Wrong pushers I believe, no biggie. But, I have 2 questions: It's a 19.58mill movement (speed101 classifies this as a 61/62 cased movement) and what looks either like an A6 dial (no close-T and high Swiss). If you take the serial number together with the dial, they make sense. However, they shouldn't be in a 105.003, should they? The guy says the Lume is original&radium, but I have no way to check it from a distance, and I never believe sellers Do you guys think this is a franken or is it something that could have been born like this and has lost a couple of minor parts (pushers, chrono hand) during service ? The DON looks amazing though I already have an Ed White so I can live without this one, but if consensus is that the piece is good than I might make a move. Thanks in advance guys !
"The guy says the Lume is original&radium, but I have no way to check it from a distance" If the dial is radium, it probably not originally from a 105.002-62 or 105.003.-63. Probably from a 2998-61 or earlier.
Wow, why a seamaster movement? I thought the movement/dial combo looked coherent... Well, if consensus is that it is a PoS, ill pass It's true that you can't really know how honest a piece is once it has more than one dubious part
It all depends upon the price to offset the risk. All of these parts are in demand. Regarding the movement number, a 1958xxxx can be either a 2998-61, 62 or a 105.002-62 original movement. It can also be from a Seamaster 2907
I'm not a fan of the dark areas around the lume. I've seen this on several watches which have been relumed. Possibly when a low viscosity compound is applied and it iver runs the markers slightly before being cleaned off?
That's exactly what I was "afraid of" when I saw the picture, it's the reason I've posted it as well. I thought about the possibility of it being a 62 without the chapter ring, and that was fitted a 62 caseback, but then it would be more Frankenstein than the original movie... Let's say it's a sum of nice parts The price is not interesting enough to take a gamble on a movement that could be from a different model (9k€)
I also seen that watch on an italian site. For me goes for sure as a franken watch. The seller knows that, but his selling it like a total authentic watch. The watch is a mixt from remaining(taken) parts from other watches.
Yes, I've decided it's really not worth the expense. I've bought a Zenith A3630 instead, picking it up tonight, it will calm down the itch for a little while
