Does anyone know of a master Seiko watchmaker? Klein doesn’t seem to be taking any new work.

I’d like to get a couple of mine serviced and have the cases refinished (seriously).

Just picked up this SRPB31. I shall ditch the rubber & use black mesh, I think. Here is a family shot

The lume looks yellow in this pic, but is a more attractive orange IRL.

I'd also like to know of Seiko service sources and pricing, especially the resealing of serviced divers watches to factory water resistant specifications.

The only local watch maker has a contract with a local Diamond company and can only take watches for repair and servicing if you go through the company. He no longer does person to person work.
His prices were very reasonable but going through the company greatly increases the charges.
It might be worth it anyway since there would be no shipping or insurance charges for local business.

I live in Australia, & sent mine to Seiko Australia. They were great. That was a modern watch, probably different with vintage.

+1 for a Seiko section for sharing knowledge on vintage pieces and providing a safe hunting ground as more fakes and frankens flood the market.

Unfortunately yes. Seiko does not seem to keep significant stores of spare parts for old models, and for most vintage models, they will simply decline service.

Also, a classic service as in mid to higher range swiss watches seems not to be something they often do for their sub-1k models... a movement swap is what happens regularly.

I like them. But you run into 2 dilemmas, the high end Seiko, and the Spring drive.

Wonderful pieces no question... but they have perceived emotional draw backs.

Finally, I can agree with Hodinkee. An artistic design where the focus is on the inspiration, rather than the names involved.
The design story is very Japanese, & I wonder why they are USA only. Anyway, they look interesting.

Put my SRPB on black mesh.
I've had trouble noticing any glow of the lume, so tonight I did the job properly. It seems my living room lights aren't strong enough to light it up, so I gave it a flashlight up close. Can't take a good lume pic, though it looks good in reality.
