Insanely rare Ollech & Wajs Precision Sportsman’s Chrono-Sailer w/Yachting Bezel attaches and Tidal Bezel to the left. While the Precision Diver was marketed mainly towards GI’s during Vietnam, O&A sold these Sportsman’s with 4 interchangeable bezel inserts (Tidal, Diving, Yachting & International) to the civilian population during the same time. Rarely have I seen any of these bezels except the diver.
Since Sunday afternoon. Gaining ~ 6 seconds per day, up from ~ 1. Time to visit my watchmaker for de-magnetization.
I feel a little uncomfortable wearing this watch in my rotation because it has no water resistance at all (box pushers and snap back case) and no shock protection (the early 321s did not have Incabloc balance cocks, not until 1945). Normally, these things wouldn’t bother me too much, but this piece is different. Even as a diehard ‘I won’t buy it if I won’t wear it’ lunatic, there are some watches I own that I’m preserving, instead of wearing. I guess this is about to be one of those. Ah well, I’m enjoying its tour in the sunlight today.
Do you wear this watch while sleeping at night? Just wondering if I need to bring duct tape and ether or whether I can simply stick to my usual burglary tools and slip in and out unnoticed.
Returned from a short vacation to find my backyard fountain overgrown with algae. Had to drain and clean it. The darn thing came with the house, and so far it has taught me that if you can’t afford to pay someone else to maintain your fountain (and I cannot), then you shouldn’t have one. I‘ve spent way too much of my weekends on this over the years.
