Being primarily a vintage collector, I find the WRUW a great resource for introducing me to brands and models with which I was not previously familiar -- i.e., finding new opportunities for depleting my bank account. Perhaps more than any other OF thread the WRUW thread has broadened my appreciation for our hobby/passion. I always appreciate it when the poster of an obscure watch adds a little info on the piece. Ollech & Wajs is a relatively obscure brand, and the post that got this discussion going is likely an introduction to the brand for many. Attached are some photos of a Helsa diver I bought for my wife a while back. Helsa was a sub-brand of O&W. I believe the movement is an Ebosa 87.
Don’t worry...it’ll probably rain later. I dig that Echo Whiskey...that’s the one that you purchased new about 500 years ago, right?
Circa 1930 (28-34) Techni-Quadron Gruen Guildite(SS) case Blued hands 877s movt 15j by Aegler Period correct Shark strap
My Rolex Prince Observatory doctors watch sends regards. Same movement as the Gruen. Mine is from circa 1933.
Yes, Aegler made and supplied the movements. Rolex finished it out more nicely. Mine is closer to 1934 than 28, it is Style 168 which was later in the run. Still stylish/ modern and perfect under sleeve.
I am just simply amazed to see your collection of beautiful watches. Thanks to you for sharing.... Next time you want to part with a Hamilton W10 ............. for missing it.
Yup! You’re almost right, I was lucky enough that my parents bought it for me for my 21st birthday. Manufactured in June 1967 and given to me on 1st January 1968. My daily wearer for over 40 years until my wife bought me a Seamaster AT for my 60th and I got more into watches and realised Ed had gone up in value somewhat, and maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to wear it doing gardening and building projects. It doesn’t come out so much now which is a shame, must wear it more often.
