Thanks Bupdyke, it's steadily turning out to be my daily wearer of choice. The markers have a double reflective curb and the dial reflects the light in such a understatedly 70's funky way! I'm really gonna make an effort to collect some more of these early 70's pieces. Overlooked IMO! 😀
Greetings to all. This just hopped on my arm this morning and wouldn’t let go!😀
I have a Dunhill lighter and my partner has matching watch, some nice dial designs! I like the tank style cases too. Still haven't owned an Omega one 😒
Got this in the post today. Sort of completes my vintage Seiko-quest.
It started with a 6105-8110, "Cpt Willard" diver.
Then I had to have a 6155-8000, Grand Seiko Special (a "tuned" GS) -
and then a 4883-8100, Seiko Superior HAQ (whips a Omega Marine chronometer).
And now - at last - I got a good original 6138-8020 "panda". The ref 6138 came directly after Seiko: s first automatic chronograph the 6139 (yes, the earlier had a higher number). The 6139 was in the race against/with Zenith and Heuer/Breitling/Hamilton-Buren/Dubois-Depraz and was presented in 1969. The 6138 came in 1970 and/but mine is from 1974. It is up there with the others from that era in all aspects.
Just took this photo and it does not do the watch justice... quick and dirty:
