A lovely vintage Fero (from my insta @ClarendonVintage) today! Loving the gold ring and its dressiness. It is ultra flat indeed.
I went to the Seiko site and it looks like the SRP773 has a metal bracelet and a dark blue bezel as well as a dark blue dial...the SRP777 has a black rubber strap and a black bezel as well as a black dial...those are the differences that I noticed at a quick glance. Also, I believe the SRP773 will be slightly more expensive than the SRP777 due to the metal bracelet.
Second last morning here before returning home after some renos. Going to be hard giving this up. Figured I'd keep on yesterday's good thing #SpeedyWednesday
The font on the Sheffield dial matches the font that was used on fashion jewellery watches for ladies that were marketed by the Sheffield Jewellery company, decades ago. I have no idea if someone bought the rights to the Sheffield name for use on watches, or if the Sheffield fashion jewellery company is still in business, having expanded their watch lines to include watches for men. Their women’s watches had decent jewelled movements in them, and the overall quality of cases etc. was typical fashion jewellery quality. Their watches were not expensive. If the owner still has the owner’s manual/guarantee slips, the owner of the Sheffield name today may be there.
Thanks for the compliment. While there does not seem to be a lot of information, from what I gather the Sheffield Watch Company hit its hay-day in the 60's with men's divers. I believe it was an American company, Sheffield Watch Inc., based in New York, founded I think in the 50s. It seems they went out of business in the 70's. If you Google "Sheffield Diver" or "Sheffield Watch" you can see a ton of images and a variety of styles both men's and women's. Most of the men's divers are around 37mm, and have Swiss movements. The watches do not carry a large price tag, most of the divers seem to go between $150 - $400. There are other with 1 to 7 jewel movements that go for under $50. I think that they were positioned as an economical watch of their time. Decent quality, decent movements and decent styling. I've seen them compared to companies like Timex. At any rate, the divers are affordable and look good for what your spending on a vintage piece. You can find a good assortment on eBAY. Certainly welcome any other info, this is simply what I know from my research.
Poor you. If it would make your life easier, I'm happy to swap it for a Tag Heuer Formula 1 you'll have no problem not wearing.
