Don’t you have a vintage Ford? Is it the brown one?
Currently have 2 Austin 16/6 cars one from 1928 and the other newer one an open road tourer from 1929.
Fords are popular that's true but they tend to lack the luxury and sophistication that Austin imbued in the early Austins, Henry Ford focused on manufacturing utility and price (lower was better) whereas Austins in the late 10's and 20's focused on luxury and reliability ( their watchword) and were in the same luxury league as Rolls Royce competing for the same top end customer. It wasn't until later when they ran into some financial difficulties that they began manufacturing cars that were cheap for the masses, Austin 7's and 10's.
12's 16's 18's and 20's were much more luxuriously appointed and better engineered with the emphasis being on reliable luxury.

Thanks for the info and the lovely photos.
As a child growing up in the fifties, we always had Fords (in fact my dad worked at the Dagenham offices for a few years) and I subsequently learnt to drive and took my test in a maroon Ford Zephyr 6 but I had no idea of the comparative history.
