I'm being offered this from a local seller and I'm tempted to buy it, but I'm a bit nervous. It's hard to price these, because there aren't many for sale. It has no service history too, which is a bit sketchy on a 10 year old hi-beat. Would you risk it? 00u0u_bDFWSgezQcM_1320MM_1200x900.jpg 00h0h_jAo1DVNzqL6_1320MM_1200x900.jpg

All depends on the numbers right? I don't see any numbers included in your post so how can anyone figure out if it's a good deal?

I tend to service anything I buy (unless it has a rock solid service history)… so that part is a bit academic unless there are a lot of worn parts. Mostly if the watch is running ok there have not been many surprises from the service …. but it is another cost to factor in....

Sorry but the flat black and carbon fiber pattern on the dial make it look like a cheap fashion watch from my perspective.

I didn't think it was fashionable on the forum to throw out numbers because it's discouraged to ask for a valuation, but since you asked, I can get it for about $2,600 (with a cheap Seiko thrown in as well)

Yeah, I'm ambivalent on the style. I'd probably try to flip it for a profit. It is a LE, without only 500 pieces made of this variant, so I'm thinking some collector out there may be eager to get his/her hands on one.

Be careful of limited editions. Sometimes it translates to "limited interest"...

I reckon you nailed it. Original owner couldn't be bothered servicing it, OP only wants to flip for a profit,...
For my part, it would have to be a lot cheaper for me to want it.

The black coating on these cases tends to flake, it has slightly on this one on the top of the lugs.

Beware, as unlike stainless steel Rolex watches, it is extremely difficult to make a profit flipping El Primeros.

This must be one of the least attractive El Primero's i've seen in a while.
Buying this for a profit seems a risky affair.
Buying this for pleasure seems not the case?

Yeah, I've decided not to go for it. That tiny bit of PVD wear on the lugs is just enough to make me worry that I'd never be able to sell it. There are better ways to make a buck

By the way, how big is it?
It looks like an oversized piece with long lugs?
