I know nothing about this sort of watch.
I do remember almost every request like this, (new poster, cheap watch, dealer, and flashy photos,) is swiftly followed by patient but tired advice along the lines of: redial/over polished/overpriced.
Let's see if I am wrong.
I often am, but let's get our one of these::popcorn::

Ps no critism of op intended, I enjoy the learning prompted by these threads

Both are recent redials of below average quality.

Vintage Omega dials should not be bright white, more like a gentle eggshell or cream color.

Didn't even look at price or condition of the case.

I'd advise you to run away from these

See that was on the auctions page as it was always going to be a very cost effective way into a Cal 8500 which is a great movement for the money.

They are a bit over priced for the (lack) of quality of them. Tom Dick is selling a beautiful watch that is a steal. (He only seems to have beautiful watches) If I had more money in my watch fund right mnow would jump all over it.

Absolutely @dsio - it was perfect. I had my head stuck in the sales forums and wasn't checking the auctions, gutted!

The other one you've linked to is also great. I'm really trying to find something in a steel as gold is not to the OH's taste (and it's for him) which has made it a little harder, they seem to be rarer?

Not at all there's heaps of steel around and omega literally made 10s of millions of watches in the 50s/60s era.
