I think that's a dealer's wall clock, with a light inside.... Still, could be a redial I suppose - why not?

Ok, somebody please tell me this Speedmaster, with 33 bids on eBay, has a fake dial. http://www.ebay.com/itm/391442237086Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
The dial is either fake or horribly redone. Shame, as everything else seems to be in order on that watch. These later -76s had the same dials as the -78 and all 1980s Speedmasters, so it wouldn't be terribly difficult to remedy, thus leaving you with a decent piece. At nearly $2000 it's way too high though.
I believe that the hour and minute hands are incorrect as well. But I agree with you that someone went to a lot of trouble to create a fake dial when a real one isn't that expensive at the moment.
Yes, the hands are wrong too - forgot to mention that as the dial was such a glaring problem! I think this might have been a redial from long ago, when that was still thought of as a viable solution to dial damage etc.
There's no worse redial...than 'no' redial: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-Omega-Mens-Swiss-Watch-Cal-268-Ref-14391-61-/131797519692?Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
