new figures on sales of Swiss watches around the world. (Taken from nick hacko) According to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FHS is an umbrella organisation for 500 Swiss watch manufacturers) 2015 total worldwide sales of watches are down 3.3% from 2014. This was predominately due to 23% less watches being sold in Hong Kong and 33% less sales in Russia. The markets which generated more profit than in 2014 were France, UK, Sweden, Austria and Netherlands. Australia is ranked 19th on the list of Swiss watchmakers with total sales of around AUD $280 million and massive growth of 15% since 2013. Looks like we are still doing just fine.
