I have the same watch, and yes I think it's a good deal! I've seen them trade regularly for ~£900 and up. This is the second execution, it has 'geneve' on the dial, no Lume on the bezel and no arrow hands. Later versions had an arrow shaped minute hand and a valjoux 22(iirc). The earlier version had no geneve script on the dial.

Ahh interesting. I wonder if this one is trading lower just due to the version being newer? Either way, nice catch and its a beautiful watch for the price! I love the bezel on this particular one.. just a bit faded with age. For under $1K watches like this are getting harder to find nowadays...

Saw this one, but hesitated! Hope the buyer is in the OF.

What's special about that Wittnauer? Many watches with that Landeron chrono movement can be had for about $200-400.

Think this model is starting to get popular with its unique bezel, yes its a common movement but same goes comparing a normal valjoux 7733 on a common brand and a Heuer Camaro with a valjoux 7733 IMHO.

Must be the purplish colour since bezels like that are plenty in black. The Camaro has the Heuer brand, which is understandable since well-regarded brands command a lot of money.

With ever price increase - some how - in some perhaps tenuous way - Hodinkee had something to do with it.

I think Mr Wind is in fact correct: later versions of this model did have a valjoux movement.

Anyway, at the end of the day the value of a piece is what the market is willing to pay. If the watch finds a buyer at $2k, that is the market value. I am not willing to pay £4000 for a submariner, but many are, so that is the price of a submariner.

I should have said "might be wrong" since the listing mentioned 1960s.
