I know that one has come up before. I really would love to know what is going on in that guys mind as to what he thinks he has. Obviously people have emailed him previously. And I love how he keeps going on about Benrus without a mention of Omega, like it is some long lost amazing jewel. It's a strange, strange auction to be sure.
I wonder how many buffing wheels must have been worn through on that case. Wow, and it sold for almost $7k USD. Sad. I simply have to post the case back, which I will officially nominate for "Most Overpolished - 2016".
Sold for $7k with Service Bezel and Service Dial. Most Overpolished Speedy indeed. Just don't get it.
Presumably somebody must have told him that the watch was really rare and valuable; why else would someone peddling a ratty looking 1960s Geneve with a replacement crown/stem from a $200 watch, think that it's somehow special... Maybe he bought it as an investment for only $35,000 and is now looking to capitalise it
Since I have Omega watches saved as an interest on Ebay, this one was featured for me when I got on Ebay. Would enjoy this watch if it could be tidied up a bit, but it doesn't run. Using it as an example, could this be a case of someone actually charging a premium for "deferred maintenance?" http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-VINTAGE-OMEGA-MILITARY-WATCH-/122064184429?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Can't access the ad but curious -- How much is it? This very same watch was sold as running, BIN for about 375 euros or USD the very morning I found my Longines pink dial. After being quite tempted for a couple days, I was glad I'd held fire --but if it's not working I'm even happier.
