Hi there , when I am winding up my S.M.P. I can keep winding and if I hold other watch to my ear after so long you can hear the mech. Ratcheting out then I stop. Is this in any way causing damage as I am assuming that the watch is at full power reserve when I hear this. I was wondering if i am doing this wrong ?

You can't over-wind a Cal 2500 so I wouldn't worry too much, 40 turns from stopped is fully wound, so dont bother going any more than that.

To expand on Ashley's point, modern automatic Omegas have a slipping clutch mechanism on the mainspring - when it reaches maximum tension, it disperses any additional power coming from the winding mechanism and stops the mainspring from being damaged. Clever stuff, and it means you don't ever have to worry!
