Hello all!

Sorry to interrupt your perusal of the October 5th Snoopy thread 馃槑

I am just curious, I have a modern Omega Speedy with the 1861 movement.

Will winding the watch while the chronograph is running have any effects?

Thanks veterans and Omega experts 馃榾

I've done it every day for 30 years without a problem.

If it's OK to wind the watch while the movement is running (and you can't hack the second hand, so it'll be running no matter what), I can't see how it would be a problem if the chronograph is running.

The only thing that I've heard you should NEVER do is to push the reset button while the chronograph is running. Big no-no.

True. Except for flyback movements obviously.

I accidentally did that couple of times but nothing happened to the watch fortunately. I think if @Archer is reading, he should give his expert opinion to enlighten us.

It's physically blocked, you are not allowed to push the reset while the chrono is running. Basic user error has been worked out. Fun fact: If you hold the reset, start the chronograph, then stop it while still holding reset, it flies back to 12:00 like, well, a flyback.

So there is, in fact, no harm done to the movement if reset button is pushed while chronograph is running?

You can't even push it. The button is blocked when running.

I don't remember now as it happened with my Tintin 2 years ago. I think the button was pushed but nothing happened. Similarly i tried to change date in my JLC during 10 pm 2 am window and it didn't change even after I pushed it many times. Fortunately nothing was damaged.

I don't think there are any modern movements that can get damaged by use of the functions

He did, many MANY times, just run a search for it and you'll find a few.

I've owned a Speedmaster 4 years and only discovered that today after reading your post. It's pretty pointless to do but is a cool trick.
