What the heck is going on? Did everyone get a vintage Omega for Christmas? It seems like the forum is full of single-sentence demands for authentication and valuation.

There does seem to be quite a few lately. You gotta wonder how many are just trolling the forum.

It's our own fault for being too popular and knowledgeable.

I haven’t been here long but I recall Ash saying it’s always like this after the holidays. So yes, lots of uncles watches getting passed around for Chrismahannakwanzuka.

Families get together at Christmas / Chanukah time. It is natural that family watches get padded down then.

Now now. After a gentle admonishment most have remembered their manners.

I’m not sure that the flybys understand either. They are likely fishing, testing the waters or a few genuinely trying to figure out what they just received. In any case, there is knowledge by the bucketloads here for sure. What they don’t realize is that the patience around here for bs is zero. They’ll find that out quickly enough.

Indeed, I was once that guy. I had more questions than niceties. To be fair though, I'm a mathematician social awkwardness is part of the contract. I am better about being polite now, but it doesn't come naturally.

I’m just appreciative that you all have tolerated my questions. And now that I’ve been an active member for long enough to pull up a chair and sit a while, I’m also appreciative of the healthy skepticism that I met in my initial days.

It takes all types to make up an interesting forum membership.

For instance as for myself….I’ve never been socially awkward…….. I’m more of an obnoxious, smart arse, antisocial, sarcastic prick, who is forever taking the piss…….but never awkward 😁

Always two times for these threads…just after Thanksgiving and Christmas.

When the pilgrimage home and Mum, Dad, Gandma dig Grandads watch out of a draw and give it to little Timmy. 😁

Or from the Appalachian Mountains…tough and fiercely independent, those who settled these mountains had to be. My heritage is Norse, Scottish, and equal parts English and Irish. We tend to be blunt, keep to our own business and expect other to stay out of ours. Violations of those simple rules tend to not end pleasantly. I, however, strive to be on my best behavior here 😀
