I lost one this way. IMO, the "Who got _________" posts right after an auction ends dont help.

I guess I should have tried to steal that great 2998 dial that you scored 2 years ago!!:)

Also, there is at least one dealer who acquires pieces this way - sniping at sold listings. It's obnoxious.

Well, I've already warned the seller that, if he cancels, his email asking for an out of ebay deal will get his account suspended for sure. No doubt ebay will also see all the messages from the sharks and perhaps suspend a few as well !!

    We shall see.

This was also posted on ChronoTrader for $1900. I emailed the seller to ask if it was still available. He replied saying he had several full ask offers, so was now looking at offers over asking.

What is the law saying in the US? In Germany, if the seller would not give you the bracelet, he has to do a payment to you.

In the USA, we make seller an offer he can’t refuse.

I've lost stuff like this as well.......kinda wish eBay would pull a listing once it sold, especially on BIN, and then it could go back up after delivery was confirmed. Dream world I know...:(

When I saw the listing I really did think of you and then a few minutes later it was gone, he also put it up on CT and then quickly pulled the listing. Make him stand up on the sale Marc. Good Luck!

Won't Ebay still charge him a fee for the listing and a percentage of what it sold for? Also, I thought winning an auction was a contract between buyer and seller for the item.

Either way, this is some clearly shady stuff, and one more reason I'll continue to steer clear of Ebay.

at least you have the one I sold you for a pittance 2 years ago!

A very well known dealer tried this with a fellow forum member last month.

Unfortunate to hear. I haven't been in a situation like this before but it's clearly annoying.

One of the small pleasures about this hobby is being able to meet some stellar people so it's unfortunate to have to deal with these shady dealers.

Two years ago life was sweet. Now? It’s trench warfare.
