Why is everything a freaking masterclass

How this came about, some are utterly clueless and they are teaching masterclass. No credentials or education, very low standards. Like supermarkets, “signature” meats. Enough ranting for a Monday.

Think you may need to enlighten us with some context in order to respond in an appropriate manner.
No question marks anywhere so cant even decipher if you want a response or are making a statement.
Clearly something has upset you but no idea what!
😕

He is talking about the ridiculous "teaching" videos that are all over youtube. I agree "masterclass" is getting as tedious as "barnfind". Any tired old piece of shit can now be called a "barnfind" including watches. Yea the other day I was strolling around in a barn and spotted an old Omega in one of the cow stalls...

You could teach a masterclass in the use of barnfind 👍

Let's not forget "influencer". Surely we can work that in somewhere as well 😁

Since we are ranting, why is every single dive watch ever built considered "robust" in Youtube review videos? Its got to be the most overused adjective. For some reviewers in particular, its not even a matter of if, but when and how often the word is used in a single video. 😲

At the end of the day I'm waiting for someone to curate a list of overused words and phrases. You know what I mean?

I am a trumpet player, though mostly "retired" from that. You know who it is teaching the "master class" (two words more correct, says this professional writer). If it's not a nationally-known professional trumpet player (or better) then "master class" it ain't.

Similar applies to any other instrument. I suspect other endeavours co-opted the term, and many of these people apply the word "master" to themselves. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Sorry, I’m a tad late to the thread. I would have arrived sooner but I was auditing a hyper-personalized master class on thought leadership.

That's how I understand it as well. Plus, you've got to be at a pretty high level to be an attendee.

You beat me.

When I was younger, a curator only worked in a musuem or a library. Now it seems that any shithead can cobble together a bunch of rare, exotic, mint, NOS, outstanding, spectacular, extremely rare, stunning crap and call it a "curated" selection.

My most unfavourite hijacked word of the 21st century.

Hmm. You forgot "honest" :whipped: . While less glitzy than the other adjectives, this one is beginning to irk me from overuse.

😁
