The story goes Omega management only learned about the use of their Omega Speedmaster chronographs on the Gemini IV spaceflight when they saw the cover of the June 18, 1965 LIFE magazine... well probably not the cover, rather by seeing pages 36 & 37

Although the Gemini IV mission was a morale booster for NASA, it hadn't been " a walk in the parc "
The first operational use of the Mission Control Center didn't go smooth, with High Frequency comms problems and a computer issue...
The tiny Gemini capsule with both astronauts seated on ejector seats was deemed suitable for "long-duration" missions but the astronauts reported difficulty sleeping and didn't recommend crumbly toast & peanut bars as food on future missions...
Ed White had multiple problems during his 20 minutes EVA (very short compared by today's 8 hours long spacewalks) as the capsule didn't have any hand- or footholds. As a safety precaution, White wanted the hatch to be kept wide open throughout the EVA so he could get in "quickly"...
Moreover he had difficulties gettng back into the capsule, due to the 8 meter tether tangled up with the zipgun, restricted bending movement with the life support unit on his chest and restricted vision due to the Gold film visor, which he had to detach and reluctantly discard overboard...
Gemini IV was a test flight after all... Ed White even recalled not having time to check his wristwatches, so McDivitt was keeping a close eye on the time. Although McDivitt had to take color photos using a Hasselblad camera, he remembered that he checked his Omega Speedmaster at 4, 6, and 8 minutes into the EVA... 12 minutes onwards Ed White started " trying to get back into the spacecraft "... extremely tired when he finally got back in !

We're still trying to find out when Omega used a Gemini IV - spacewalk themed advertissement for the very fist time ( late 1966, early 1967 ? )
Here detail of an Omega artwork on the cover of a March 1967 Omega brochure... showing only a single Speedmaster

a shout out & thank You to @Omegafanman for putting this Gemini IV Omega Speedmaster video together...
Well those 14 minutes watching it flew by, especially if You realize how many hours of work went into producing it 馃憤

Thanks @SpeedyPhill - the trouble is so much went on during that mission you could make a full length feature film - then again I guess a lot of the missions are like that. Your help and access to all the archive pictures and information has been invaluable. I have learned a lot from the experience and gained even greater respect for Spacefaring folk (old and new :0)

It has been a most interesting week, which triggered me into a new article on the use of Omega Speedmaster chronograph during the early Gemini program... Very interesting times as NASA probably only had 24 + 4 Speedmasters available...
Accurately checking the Omega Speedmaster chronographs in NASA mission photos is an interesting way spending time on the topic.
For instance, trying to make sense of Mission Control Center indications of GET - Ground Elapsed Time upperleft in this Gemini VIII photo:

.
The month of June is also anniversary month for the 1966 Gemini IX-a mission (see photo with Tom Stafford's Speedmaster 105.003 chronograph clearly showing 14:29 UTC with the fine chronograph hand running at approx 6 seconds... )... But more on that later !
.

...
Many thanks again for an interesting cooperation !

Wonderful photos - very clear/ well framed. Black and white brings out more details at times. I can see I might have to do some Gemini 9 research - I have Captain Cernan looking over my shoulder in the office so feel the pressure already :0)

I just realised I had not posted the final version of the time hack/time call chart comparing transcripts with actual estimated watch times from the Moon Watch Universe photo archive (for the Gemini 4 Ed White EVA mission). Interested if anyone can add more to this / add extra analysis - based on the available data already posted. Thanks.

Thanks for the bump, I missed this first time around.

We had a Gemini XII capsule tour Australia in the early 1970s. I think it may have early on when it was delivered at RAAF Base Richmond when it was found that there was a problem with the ejection seats being loose or something. The capsule was sent to the armament section where I worked I was one of the armourers tasked to secure them properly. While working in the capsule, I noticed that the dog clip attached to a long white cord (tool tether?) was absolutely identical to the one I kept my motorcycle key on.
With good intent (the one in the capsule looked a bit worn) I exchanged dog clips.
Keep it a secret though.
