But - I'm not the first here to think it's promoted some of the best recent writing. A bit more readable than some of the other stuff that's been going down.
I wouldn't presume to try to express better what's already been said, only add - mechanical helped Apollo XIII, they say.

·Assuming it is a good quality mech watch to honor the reasons. In my case because;
1)they are more reliable.
2)I enjoy watching a smooth second hand sweep
3) They project prestige more than a quartz
4) They enclose craftmanship and human ingenuity and creativity that can come with other attributes like history etc.

If Bulova made a Precisionist that wasn't a stylistic nightmare, I might have a few. Only a couple of their now-discontinued Accutron II watches are acceptable.

I have one Accutron Curacao black rubber and rose gold dial, it convinced me not to sell it .

As for the OP. I've found some who sign up on a collectors board can become paranoid about having their IP and actual address and other info being found out. Especially considering the threads on stolen watches.
Gun Collector boards are especially vulnerable to those looking for an address of a collector who might be out of town over a weekend or even just at work for a few hours so they can loot their homes.
Once someone visited a collectors site with a story about a terminally ill child that wanted to correspond with the members. Of course they wanted return addresses and such.
Not wise for one with thousands of dollars worth of easily turned over items to allow their home location to be known by strangers.

·For me they are incredible engineering feats -materials, durability, performance, design innovation In the 60s there was huge competition and diversity. It’s more like Cars now though with fewer engine choices and shared components eta 2892 the vw group two litre tsi of its day or maybe the Fiat twin cam
