Hi. You have a wonderful forum. I have lurked in the past, but just now decided to join. This is my Captain dress watch I've owned for about 15 years. 18k gold, a daily wearer when the weather is good. Regarding the inscription, I find it kind of ironic. Raymond probably worked for Zenith Radio/TV, retiring about ten years before they bought the watchmaker and almost destroyed it.
Latest member. Just arrived today. Haven't seen the movement yet and it'll need a service, although it's keeping time. Pretty pleased. It came with the Seamaster, which I have on the wrist to compare sizes. The Captain wears large, especially with these long, beautiful lugs. (7.25 inch wrist for comparison.) My first Zenith. Looking forward to learning more about the movement. Feels like a bumper. The Captain is screaming out for a nice new strap. Edit: I didn't bother setting the date.
I was hoping, but don't know much other what you all shared here on the OF. When I first saw it, the info here helped a lot. It's always fun tripping over a cool watch that I never knew existed. Of course, there are so many. But something like these Captains just seems like they'd be more widely celebrated. (Of course, it's likely just my own ignorance.) They're really quite lovely. Hopefully I will come across one in gold one day. Thanks to all you all for sharing your watches and knowledge. Dave Ps. I hope this gets @STANDY out of his doldrums.
Here are my three Captains 1. With a black dial from 1953 2. Captain written in the upper dial from 1957 and 3. Very early 2522P Captain from 1961 !
Chronometer being a more accurate time keeper, while you said "close, but not quite", as in less accurate. A bad joke day for me
No, definitely not. A cryptic dad joke which I am myself and which Im personally regularly dropping. Keep up the fine work.
Happiness is the morning after your watch comes back from service. Extra bonus when your wife sees it on the new strap and says, "Oooo, I haven't seen that! That's nice, let me see it!"
