White Omega deposit.

I am just responding to the guy that cannot understand why some people would want the white over the rising sun. This doesn’t mean I don’t understand why others would want the rising sun over the white. I kept using the word “some” people. The other guy didn’t even leave room for this.

It’s one of the fun things about the speedy, there are so many versions out there.
I think you misunderstood me, I mentioned why would people would bother with a deposit when something arguably better is readily available, not their general desire to acquire it.

Picked mine up today from the boutique. While the waiting list is deep, I believe most will get theirs sooner than expected with deposits. My feeling is this can not be the only Speedy in your collection but rather, a differentiated new model that will complement other Speedy variations very well. Omega hit the ball out of the park on this one 😀

You may feel it’s “arguably better”, but clearly the many people leaving deposits feel differently.

Both are great options but you’re kinda comparing apples and oranges. They are entirely different watches.

Okay got it but do you see why someone who is after a simple clean white dial would pay a deposit? Some people are going to prefer the white dial and at the moment for many boutiques the only way to get on the list is a deposit.

Anyone get a call to pick up this week? I’m being told my full deposit should turn into a watch this month. I was in the top 15 full deposits at my OB, and sounds like they’ve delivered several watches already (according to my SA).

I would put down a deposit if I wanted the watch. Omega will have production ramped up in a year or so.

many here have heard “you are on the list” and never receive any update. OB is obligated to update those with a deposit. Non-deposit waitlist receives little or no contact. Omega is the only (major) brand wiling to take a deposit. I welcome this practice.

Well...at least my OB never really updated me during the 2 year wait for the deposit I put down on the Snoopy. No communication from them at all during that time frame other than the one time I called them.

Not a real fan of this practice without communication. I have a deposit down on the white Speedy, but seriously thinking about pulling it for another brand. Not a real fan of the Rolex way either, but I have purchased a Sky Dweller and a Pepsi without a deposit or additional purchases.

I don't get upset about any of it, it actually compels me to get re-engaged in the watch hobby again. Like this delay in the white Speedy has me looking seriously at the titanium Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Beautiful piece!

hang in there with Omega. If you are eyeing a white Speedy, nothing really replaces it. O maybe the best major brand when it comes to delivery/availability. Don’t cancel your Snoopy. Let that deposit sit. You’ll get yours. OB no longer take deposits for Snoopy, so you are in a good position there.

Shoot, a white Speedy order might push that Snoopy closer to you. Update us when you get either.

When the black dial 3861 was released 5 January 2021 I ordered the sapphire one immediately and picked it up a couple of days later from the OB. I didn't care that it was $7150. I was excited to get a next gen Speedy. I have no regrets. I wear it a lot. I didn't rush out to get a white dial because it's a variation. I do think it's really quite nice and hope to get one eventually...eventually.
