While I was buying my Omega Constellation, I was also looking at this. I've got the gold bug again.

In the end, there was only one thing I could do...get them both.

That's unfortunate ..... But, that Rolex dial is in very fine condition! That's what Rolex used to be. Classy. Style. Today's Rolex creations are a disaster. Bling. Massive. Screaming : " Look at me ! " Looking cheap with no Style. Investment grade only. Sad.

Both watches are from the days when 34mm and 36mm were the normal watch size. Omega and Rolex created elegant designs that also had the durability of tools. Rolex held off joining the "big watch" party but eventually the market forces spoke. There were/are watches that had a reason to be larger than 36mm...the Speedmaster, pilot's and diver's watches, watches that needed the slightly larger case to have room for the rotating bezel, or to have larger dials that could be easily read in challenging situations. However, they were only as big as they needed to be...unlike the vulgar cans of tuna fish that sadly every manufacturer produces and that clutter people's wrists these days. Both of these two watches do not offend, probably because they are on leather straps. Now and then, they discretely peak out from under a long sleeve sweater or from under a jacket or shirt cuff. 99% of the time only a true watch enthusiast will even take note of them. I love steel and gold equally when they are done well.

A great pair. What I love about Omega is that they've always had a very distinctive style of case and movement...nothing else like them. Plus they are both elegant, as well as rugged. My only complaint with my Constellation is trying to get a grip on the winding crown...the style of the crown just doesn't give hand any traction. On the positive side, I've never had to wind it since I got it...it just keeps running. And these classic sizes are from a golden age in mechanical watches. Curious...which one do you find yourself wearing the most?

The Rolex arrived today. Even better looking in person. I'll probably carry both it and the Omega and alternate them throughout the day.
