    Hi All

One of my closest friends is turning 40 in the new year and his wife has asked for my help to find him a watch.

He’s stipulated that he wants a black faced Seamaster like my 2251, something that won’t lose money and that he can pass on. He mentioned this to me for some time.

Although she can stretch her budget to a brand new version (if I can find a really good deal and she’s said cheaper would be better) I’ve suggested that it might be a good idea to get something from 2007 which is the year their son was born.

I’ve also suggested that a blue version would be better as this is the classic from that year plus I’m not sure if the 2251 came in black back then??

what would be your choice? Blue, black, new, old?

The 2251.80 only came in blue, the 2251.50 is black. If this is his only watch and he wants a black faced piece, personally I’d get a 2254. I find mine goes with more daily attire than my blue 2018 wave dial. My 2254 and 5 digit sub get a lot more wrist time than my ceramic wave dial. Just my opinion.

I second that, everything sounds as the 2254 would tick all that boxes :)

Thanks for the suggestions, think you’re right, a 2254 would be a good choice especially as he definitely wants a black dial.
    Does a 2264 date back to 2007?

also, I made mistake, mine is 2221.80

The 2264 quartz I believe had the same timespan production as the 2254

If your friend isn't entirely married to a Seamaster Pro, I'd suggest the Seamaster Planet Ocean 2201.50.

my friends wife felt more comfortable getting a new model so I helped her get just over £500 off from an AD which I think is a pretty good deal.

Has anyone else got similar deals at an AD recently?

I was quite surprised they gave this much discount!
