Which one

Good afternoon all,

I have a couple of Seamasters (not currently all mine but been swapping straps and acrylics (still waiting on two to be delivered) for a dealer friend, out of the 3 which would you choose to keep, I’ve already got a 60’s automatic Constellation which I love (photo below) I’m undecided which out of these 3 to keep;

166.0202 - gold coloured (don’t currently own a gold coloured watch) with a 1012 movement which I assume is slightly less desirable than the 500 series movements.

156.020 - 562 automatic movement

14390-1 - 265 manual wind movement

none of them are in awesome condition but in all honesty I like the signs of wear and use they show, especially given their age,

Any advice/ pros/ cons would be appreciated,

Thanks,
Matty

All say automatic on the dial, but one movement is clearly manual. Redial/Franken?
I am confused as to which dial goes with which movement, maybe you can post the front and backs together in separate posts.

I like the 14390 best because of the case and dial design combo. Can't really see the condition of either though. Manual wind is fun for a change to connect more with your watch. Also I don't like to fool around with calendars eveytime I switch watches.

Interesting approach, yeah I know what you mean, my constellation is a pig to set the date on and let’s face it, how often do you need to know the date. Thanks for your input

The gold-plated case is in terrible condition.

If the 166.020’s dial is in nice shape, I would go for that one. I like that it has a no lume dial and the model is fairly popular. I had and sold one just like it.

The 14390-1 is also nice, but it just depends what you’re looking for stylistically.

The last one I wouldn’t even consider. It is just so rough.

Sorry, do you mean
156.020
Or
166.0202

the numbers are so close I’m not sure which one your referring to

I think you misread the reference number. 156.020 is actually 166.020. Sometimes the engraved reference numbers are hard to read. I’m referring to the steel monocoque (front loading) case with the crosshair dial.

My vote goes to the 14390-1. Seems in better shape and I like gold and steel. No date so nice for symmetry. But if you have better pictures, that would be great. The font looks quite bold on the dial.
