Hello everyone ,
I am Hugo, I am a 57y Belgian and I live in Sicily for my work.

I got this Omega last week from my mother.
I tried several website instead of the Omega one dedicated to the vintage watches … but unfortunately I could not find this model.
So, I am here , expecting that someone will be able to provide me with any info about it. (Model, year…the value could be nice as well but it is not be most important info I am looking for, I will keep it and I will wear it.

What I know is coming from my mother who is 82 years hold.
This watch comes from her grandfather who died in 1969.
Since this time the watch has never been worn and serviced.
There are no paperwork available.

Yesterday, I winded it and it started ticking correctly. After 55+years ‘’ slipping ‘’ in a box, it is impressive !
The watch is now working for more than 1 day without lagging.
In addition, there are some figures etched on the back only readable with a magnifier. You will find a transcription on the last picture.
I scrutinized the watch from every angles and there no other info visible.

Last bullet, because the watch in working correctly, do I need to service it?

Thank you in advance for your valuable expertise,

v/r

H.

The information you want is inside the watch. Please have the back removed (or if you are comfortable doing it, pop it off with a sharp knife) and post photos of the movement and inside of the case-back.

After all these years, the lubrification of the movement is totally dried. So now is working metal on metal, with any metal dust acting as abrasive.

Stop the watch and bring it to service. Then ask the watchmaker , while open, to take pictures of the movement and the inside of the back.

Those numbers you mention have been written by some of the previous watchmakers.

Of course the bracelet is not original, the box is correct and original.

Thank you, I will bring it to an official watchmaker.
Now how to stop it?

Just let it wind down, by leaving it still on a surface. Does not need to go to an official watchmaker, a good quality independent will be ok.

There are some good ones in Sicily, ask on the Italian “Orologi e Passioni” forum.

Ok, I will let it sleep again until service is done.
Appreciate your swift and accurate advices,
