I wouldn't say slipped away as opposed to "too conservative of funds..." (not the listing one though same model.)
For me it was a dead-mint stainless arrowhead Connie with white dial. Not sure I'll have a crack at another in the same condition. Why oh why did I hesitate?
I think I messed up pretty good not seeing this through. I quit bidding at $1300 and change. I want the Omega version (176.007) next so I was torn.
A Seiko World Timer. Black dial, red/blue sections, GMT with time zone cities detailed. Fair condition for the age. Just couldn’t stretch far enough, sadly. Onwards and upwards...
A Barn find Cal 30 T2 RG at a local auction, bought something else and went out for a call, came back in to see it sell for 900$ with some Junk on it...
Painful subject indeed... had some great pick ups in 2018, but as I’ve cried about on OF before, not grabbing this rose gold IWC 89 when I had the chance hurts... Still... A lot.
Absolutely this.... was confused by the bracelet and poor knowledge of speedies. After twenty odd minutes I finally decided to buy but it had sold. 4000USD buy it now And this Belgian military Longines which I missed as my bid never registered . And this which I was outbid on
This one .... pictures are bad but the condition IRL was probably quite sharp. Contacted the seller, he gave no phone number in the add, no response... a day later it was gone ... the hunt goes on in 2019. But.... I bought a near mint 3590 today, B&P Hangtag, blue goo on the back, red seal, everything ... so 2019 is off for a good Start I guess . Cheers, Max
A few watches were particularly annoying in 2018. I have already regaled everyone with my questions about my TEDDINGTON OBSERVATORY Red Star watch. But what I hadn't mentioned was that I had two of them, both out of Brazil and both with quite nice dials. The other one I wanted to wear myself but when I opened up my table at the Paris watch and Pen Show, there was a bit of a feeding frenzy and some guy grabbed it within about 30 seconds of it being open to the air! He seemed friltabits when I quoted some exorbitant price, reflective of the point that I didn't want to sell it, and he handed over the lolly immediately. If you look carefully at the one to the left, I think you'll find it almost imperceptibly larger than the (also) 30t2sc to the right. And it works properly, as it has its seconds hand mechanism. My other big miss was an early, 1920s crack-free porcelain dial Minerva chrono WRIST watch with one button missing, no photos of the movement and no hands. I just couldn't convince myself that it hadn't been used for parts and wouldn't be a disaster to rebuild.

That was a better deal than the $3000 105.012-66 CB (no bezel) I got.
