Been thinking of getting my first Omega. What is everyone's opinion of the two? Which should I go with? Either the DSOTM or new Speedmaster Moonphase in blue with blue leather strap.

Speedmaster Moonphase in blue tend to become a bit too blue in my honest opinion and then I'm also a guy who really enjoys blue watches. It might not be on your list, but the Speedmaster Moonphase in black is a great looking piece that I would really enjoy to own. Unfortunately, 44mm is to push it for me personally.

I personally prefer bigger watches so I'm ok with 44-45. I'm always in a suit for work so maybe the blue will pop more with the suit? And yes I do agree with the blue being a bit too blue. Would have preferred the CK2998 look.

As long as you have wrists big enough to carry a 44mm watch I think it will look great. However, it might not be the best idea to wear that kind of watch with your suit. There's a reason why differences exist between 'sports' and 'dress' watches. Overall, I'd say that the most important thing to do is to go and try al both of them and then make up your mind. If you know that you'll be using the watch with a suit then it could be a good idea to try the watches while wearing the suit.

    Best of luck!

The new Speedmaster Racing with the white dial is amazing. If I were considering a new Omega in the 44-45mm size range that would be my choice without thinking twice. In the metal it's just gorgeous and I'm guessing this will be a model that you won't see all that often which I think only adds to its coolness.

Not wearing sport watches with suits has never really been a thing, FYI.

I wear a suit to work every day and I don't really wear anything but sport watches; no one has ever batted an eye at me doing it. When guys wear Apple Watches and G-Shocks with suits, anything mechanical will fly under the radar or be appreciated.

Sorry for the pic spam, just illustrating my point.

DSOTM has been around for a while. I would pick the blue moonphase as it is less common.

Depends on whether you are a werewolf or a werewolf-hunter. Then the moonphase is perfect.

But for me, I like the DSOTM.

I tried the Moonphase a few days ago. I don't know about the DSOTM, but the Moonphase was way to thick in my opinion.

Which to get when comparing the xSOTM vs the new Moonphase? I chose with the obvious answer and very happy I did!

The blue moonphase dial is spectacular and was the first Metas certified chronograph produced by Omega. The DSOTM has sci-fi cool with the ceramic case, polished ceramic dial and wears smaller...not actually physically smaller, just an optical illusion with the black case/lugs. The DSOTM has also become a bit of a modern speedy icon. The white dial racing is Metas certified, the best of the new racing steel variants and is significantly less expensive than the other two. All three are good options and there is not much to choose technically between them...this is really a situation where the OP needs to get to a local OB/AD and try them out on the wrist....good luck!

The Omega Boutique in San Diego had the new racing dials on display a few weeks ago but they were not yet for sale. I'm told they will be hitting stores in the next few weeks. However, with the way the 60th anniversary and SpeedyTuesdays models are taking forever to be shipped who knows when the racing dials will actually hit stores. IMO though they will be well worth the wait.
