I bought several parts from different sellers, for a project.
I’m transplanting a cal 861 movement and dial from a mk2 case into a Professional case. (I’m told it should just drop in after changing the ring)
I can’t get the movement to fit it the case and think it might be the wrong outer ring.
Here are pictures of what I have.
Do I have the wrong ring?
Any ideas from someone who has done this?
The dust cover snaps in so it must be correct for a professional case, right?

I’ve definitely fitted a mkii movement and dial into a professional case before and it worked fine using the normal professional ring, so I can only guess you have the wrong ring there. I was told later that doing this might damage the mkii dial though as it is flat and would sit higher against the crystal ring than the curved, or stepped pro dial. I’d didn’t notice any damage on my one but it’s something to be aware of.

Thanks Ash,
I checked against the ring in my ‘69’s and they are very different but the one I have looks identical to the ones on eBay which say they fit 861/321/1861.

Part number you would need is 079LC0861C.

thanks. Looking at photos of that part, it looks like thats what I have.
Strange. Tried an ‘69 movement and ring (from another watch) and it just drops straight in to the “new” case

Thanks for trying to help Gents.
I’ve separated the ring and movement. The ring itself drops in fine, a 1969 movement and ring drop in perfectly.
I’m beginning to think it might be the movement?
One of the movement pushers seems to be longer than the other and seems to catch on the case pusher rod.
Any thoughts?

edit. And the movement (with the mk2 movement spacer ring) drops back into the Mk2 case perfectly.
It’s obviously a mismatch between the professional case internal pushers and the cal 861 movement pushers.

Ok, managed to sort it.
Replaced the upper internal case pusher with the one from the Mk2 case.
Result!
