I feel terrible as a contrarian that likes black over brown. 🙁
How dare you!

To add a further two cents: the black you’ve chosen is a glossy finish and I think this causes the watch to read really formally. If you’re a suit and tie guy and wear a nice pair of polished brogues to work, no problem! Perfect match!

If you’re more of a business casual or denim guy, that brown strap makes more sense to me. Or a black one with more of a matte finish.

No matter what, the strap should match (in color) your belt and shoes!

Nice watch, by the way! And I love both straps! Just depends on what else you’re wearing!

I’m humbled @Vitezi appreciates my opinion on matters of taste.
I like the notion that the black would pull out the blackness of the indexes. However I too prefer the brown strap because it’s flat and matte, both features I find much more elegant.
For a black tie event of course you’d have to switch to black, but I would use another flat strap and not this one.
The fatness of the black strap looks too “sporty” on a dress watch, and its volume is overbearing.

They both look equally fine to me. They work in different contexts. The brown strap is very elegant and likely more versatile over all, from casual to business attire, but if I was wearing it on an occasion requiring a suit, I'd go with black.

I would say black in this case - matching to the black inlays of the Indices.

In general I personally prefer Brown 😀

I know it is subjective, just like everything else about watches, but I’d like to know the prevailing opinion: Does black or brown look better on this watch, not considering matching clothing?
It would be fun to see your black vs brown comparisons too!

Brown gets my vote

Either could work well, depending on the style. Brown alligator or teju lizard would look very good on it; black, flat plain unstitched smooth calf would too, and might be close to what it was supplied with when new. For my taste the black alligator doesn't quite match the style of the watch, but anyway - just wear what you like 👍👍

Brown gets my vote too. Try a matte black & it will suit it just as well.

Brown for certain. Usually goes better along with gold.
