I recently bought this leather deployment strap and may decide to restore it for personal use.
Does anyone know the type of leather here. Very coarse grain. Was Calfskin common back in the 60s-70s ?

Sure it’s not Corfam?
I think you're 100% correct, thanks. That's something I completely overlooked. I haven't received it yet to answer. I was hoping to educate myself while I wait. The seller
insisted it was leather & the fraying on the springbar ends is what made me think it was leather.
Cheers

I have not had good luck with old Corfam. It often cracks.

There's a gent in the USA with reproduction rights to accurately reproduce the Corfam product. If it is Corfam? Are you aware of this same strap being made from leather, or do the photos show Corfam in your opinion? Thank you

It should be easy to distinguish in person between leather and Corfam. It's obviously a flexible plastic material and I have no idea why anyone would want to reproduce it. There's a good reason that it wasn't used for long.

Thanks Dan. It hasn't arrived yet, so I'll patiently wait. The seller was very insistent in it being leather, so we'll wait and see.. Cheers

Yup, that's why it was discontinued by DuPont in 1971.... 😀

I received the strap today. It's definitely Leather. Unfortunately someone decided to narrow down the lug ends but it's still pliable and now on my wrist. 😀
