Hi, so I'm doing some research on 1950-1960 Omega's and was wondering which one is your favourite?

For a budget of up to 1500 USD / 1250 GBP, which ones are a good buy, in terms of quality, and availability of good (original) pieces? Look forward to hearing your preferences.

A nice pie pan Connie should be your choice for this budget! :)

    ( personal opinion)

I'm not a big fan of tool watches like the professional Master series (too big!).
Constellation Pie-Pans are nice. Fits within your budget. Chronometer grade movements too.
This one, though not pie-pan, is also nice (beautiful dial!).

I have absolutely no legitimacy in answering your question. However, having bought my first vintage omega recently (thanks jinson), I'm happy with this 1954 seamaster date. I've seen a few come up for sale here in the private seller forum and are below your budget. My goal was to buy something common so that there would be a large fund of knowledge about the piece, it would be easy to service, and it would let me test the waters for size and style.

lovely watch indeed! Though not a fan of gold (plated). Prefer steel. Thanks for the recommendation

the pie pan has always been my favorite! It was omega's best watch up untell they were practically forced to compete with took watches in '58 and still the speedmaster was the same price, not "better", than the connie. Of course times have changed and the globemaster is more in the middle now, but to me, the 50's were what omega is all about.

In before Tony (thanks for the pic). 1950s has to be the Geneve in either 34mm or 36mm. The 36mm is my GOAT Omega but would require some patience to find one. Beautiful case, cross hairs, arrowhead gold markers, manual wind, what more could you want?

That's a beautiful family photo. Wasn't familiar with Geneve. Any specific differences between Constellation and Geneve? Thanks for sharing

A simple manual wind in good condition can yield an attractive quality/cost ratio. I own one watch that falls in your target category: a 33.5mm Ref.14722/Cal.520 that dates from 1959. It's an un-common watch because not many were made, but not particularly collectible. You could expect to pay $500-$600 for a clean example.

I wish somebody would but this.. I'm tired of looking at it.. Its rare to see such a desirable connie in such great condition on ebay, and it just sits..

At your price point you have many Omega models to choose from. Find a model you like and purchase the best example of that model you can find the key word is condition condition condition
The Seamasters from the 1950's offer a lot of bang for the buck This watch is now at the watchmaker for a overhaul new crystal and crown the Seamaster will come back better than these before pictures I like these Seamasters with the large hippocampus
    Good Luck

+1...A very underestimated and underrated watch. A tremendous value and piece of horological history. And quite beautiful!

Check this exceptional example from member GregH..Timeless!

The 50s models were TOTL for Omega at the time. Later in the history the Geneve name was reintroduced as a lower tier series.

Hard to argue against a pie-pan and I have one as well but IMO the 50s Geneve is a more versatile watch. Slightly less dressy compared to the pie-pan constellations.

Oops ! It seems this watch was made before 1950, probably between '48 - '50.
