I have an omega seamaster dating from 1967-1969. I bought a generic brown strap for it, but I'm hoping to find an original buckle. Has anyone had luck? It seems like most of the ones on ebay are fake..

Will post photos of the watch soon :)

unless you know what you are looking for, its difficult, as most on ebay are fakes now.

you could of course buy a English 9 ct gold buckle from ebay, which will be hallmarked for the year you are searching for - these sell for around £100 give or take a tenner, depending on condition.

as far as I know, these havent been faked yet, and are a nice addition to a gold watch

I'm sure it's fine. Do you have a photo / is it for sale?

As an alternative option, you may want to consider buying a new gold plated Omega buckle at the Omega dealer. They are sold separately and will cost around 15-20 UK pounds I think. Here is one on my vintage YG Connie. It looks nice and I decided to go with this for the same reasons you outline above, too many fakes and high price of vintage ones.

Thanks a lot. And just to be clear.. an 18mm buckle goes with an 18mm strap?

No, straps are often ( and usually with vintage models) wider at the lugs than the buckle. Yours probably takes a 16mm buckle. You can always take a caliper and measure.

Funny, ended up at an Omega store today to inquire about servicing and they were able to sell my a buckle for $20! It looks like I'm complete. :)

I paid around £11 (i think - certainly wasn't more than £13) in an omega boutique to get a steel buckle for my 1970 Omega Geneve. They fitted it for me too and didn't seem to care in the slightest that they were adding an omega buckle to a hirsch strap. At this price i can see no reason to mess around on the internet... get down to omega!

Great. Then I think I just bought a couple of fake ones, the top one on an Omega watch from a member here, the bottom one from 'expressjewelery' on eBay for $28 [emoji45][IMG][IMG]

Maybe the top one is authentic?

Here's a photo of one similar to mine. It looks like some of the newer buckles are engraved not embossed. Can speak to the authenticity given I got it from Omega itself :)

I knew that the Boutiques had begun to stock the new NATO nylon watchbands, but did not know about the buckles.

I wonder if they have different sizes?
