Does it have to be purchased directly form Watchco? Looking at the 300m model. Is any movement better than another? 561? 562? 565etc. Thanks.

Not really. Just like there are original watches on the preowned market, you will see Watchco specimens show up for sale in the various forums and eBay. I'm sure someone who is more knowledgeable around here will tell you about the differences on the movements.

They are available directly from Watchco.

I just spoke to Rob and they have just received a stock of NOS movements complete with hangtags that Marcus bought back recently.

If you want to go ahead he's holding a date and a no date in my name. Please PM with your details ASAP, they won't last long.

If you're in Australia, you can call Rob (young Rob) on 03 9663 0660.

Wow - that's a lotta dough!

Yeah thats what I was thinking too. A new case would only be about a 1/3rd of that price

No not quite that cheap...the price increases keep coming on this stuff year after year, just like the watches.

I think you can buy the 166.0324 case from Cousins for £650 (without VAT), so they have gone up a bit.

I had the same thought when I saw that listing the other day. 💰

When you factor in the service of the movement as well, it's way more than they used to be.

Yeah, I was all lined for the kit,,
OK, this WIS thing is not all common sense..

My wife then came up with some medical problems, so, priorities, priorities... As much as they are the only Omega that I desire, the price, and my current situation, just puts them into that too expensive basket. It is empowering for once to say NO!

A beautiful Omega (?) regardless....

+1
(Actually I managed to do it before, as I bought the majority of my watches in the mid 80s 😀 )

Watchco have an interesting marketing model. They offer this at $3500. Then later on, perhaps just a case. then after a year or so, when all the "must haves" have purchased, they offer the same thing at open auction, often selling for considerably less than the original BIN price.

So there seem to be two markets, that they sucessfully satisfy. Those who need it NOW, and those who buy because it is a bargain.

On more than one occasion I have bought two of something, first because I "needed" it, and the second to average the price!

This is not a gripe, just an observation. I think they are very smart.

Well, a little over $3500 used to get you a fully serviced and assembled watch from them, but now it's just the kit. Personally I don't think it's a particular strategy - I think they have raised their prices considerably to make as much hay as they can while they still have access to parts. I'm not sure you will see cheaper than this from them unless they get desperate to move them and they won't sell at this price...

I have heard that you can get that kit for at least 25% off if you contact them via a their website. Have not tried it myself.

I am sure that is not the kit you are buying as all the Omega parts would be in sealed packs but, that NOS movement seems to have oil stains on the calendar plate. It does appear to be otherwise unmarked. Also, they don't show the black date ring but do mention it in the text. I wonder if they can get the flat one as Cousins can't?

The big problem in Europe is the extra 20-25% import duty. I suppose you don't suffer from that in US?
