·This is dilemma I'm facing. Keep intending to thin the collection but it's hard to take that first step. I'd be no good as a farmer sending piglets to market !!
I guess I better start doing it though as funds do eventually run out, usually just as you find that "one" you were always looking for !!

·I intend to keep a mainstay of three watches in the collection, most of them with sentimental value. Those won't be sold. Everything else is always on the edge of being sold if I need the funds for something new or something not watch related.

·Several years ago, I sold my Rolex Oyster Daytona Cosmograph. I figured that, should I kick the bucket, and my wife calls someone to come and make a offer on my collection, the offer for the whole collection would be less that the price I got for the Daytona! And I sold the Daytona for far below what I see them being offered at, on eBay, and other on line sources. (Do people actually pay those prices?). So, one by one, I'll divest myself of a few, and then let my estate worry about what is left over. One down, 119 left to go.

I plan on swelling to a dozen good ones (maybe have 4 that make me tingle out of 25 so far), enjoy the hell out of them.....and then slowly sell them off until I end up with only one left, one to sell to my son on my deathbed! (apologies Billy Crystal or Mel Brooks, I forget which).
You guys have all been to estate sales and auctions, don't let it happen to you!
I asked a forum leader to serve as a guide to my heirs in case the above plan doesn't work out.

There's an app to be developed there by some enterprising OFer.
Snap a picture of each watch, record a market value (updated regularly) and list contact details of members with dibs or potential interest.
Maybe even a possible addition to our OF Profile? (user name and password recorded in Will) @dsio @Trev ???
