When did Omega start to sign its crowns?

Good morning

after long discussions, I still have no firm truths about the time when the Omega logo appeared on crowns.
I know as a fact that all sports omegas starting from the 2915/2914/2913 etc (middle 50's) has a nice Omega logo on crown.
I also know that all Omega time-only watches (30mm etc) had a plain crown, no logo in the 1940s.
But what about the rest? Would a 30mm from middle 50's have an Omega logo on crown?

Any advise very welcome

Best wishes
Franco

I do know that Omega started to sign crowns and crystals around 1950. Some will say also between 1945-50.

Was hoping to get some evidence, like catalogues or similar

I’m not sure you’ll be able to easily get definitive evidence to answer your question.

As far as I recall, all Omegas from the 50s had signed crowns. And I know 1948+ Seamasters also had signed crowns. Perhaps that’s when it started.

I suspect it came with all new models end of 40s. Particularly waterproof crowns were introduced with the logo, while 30mm movement, in cases with dust proof crowns, didn’t get the logo for a bit more

Omega Centenary from 1948 all had signed crowns, if that helps.

However, I think the signed crystals were a bit later.

There is the confounding factors of eager collectors installing signed crowns (thinking they are correcting a mistake), and jobber watchmakers changing crown with whatever, provided it works.

I am sure it varies a lot - all Seamaster clover crowns I've ever seen have been logo'ed, for instance.

Do all Omegas from 50's have logoed crowns? Or you know exceptions?

30mm references such as the 2639 and many, many others never had signed crowns.

Would you mean that any 2639 signed crown is a replacement?

I have never owned one with the original style that had a logo. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it had been introduced at some point though!

Do you have a specific one in mind? What year is it?

I got four 2639´s - one of them certainly has a replacement crown. Two, both from 1953, are at the watchmaker, but I am certain at least one of them has a crown identical to this 1952 model.

In case it helps, I think this is the same as was on my 2640 as well:

My 2639-13 from 1952. And yes I know the crystal and tension ring are not original-waiting for the correct ones to come. As for the crown I don't think it was ever replaced. It's not logged.
