Hi All.. newbie here,

Im currently a Rolex owner but decided for a change so been looking to get an Omega.
Im on the verge of purchasing a Seamaster 300m 2531.8000, but been doing research on the side for collectibles.
Ive come across a few constellation pie-pan so been considering this as well. But ideally rather get something thats a 'collectible' nothing too pricey though… as in over £3000.

What would you have in your top 5 collectibles / vintage and the reasons??

Thank you for the reply.

Some great information on that forum on what makes a watch collectible, very few examples in there.

Was just curious on what others have on their top 5 list.

If we are talking Collectables, well I think of most watches as wearables.

Can't go wrong with seamasters and constellations for a start to some wearables

My top five collectible Omegas (that are still affordable). For me, these epitomize the cross section of classic designs and quality.
1- A Speedmaster (such a range to choose from, but so versatile)
2- Seamaster 14755
3- Seamaster 300
4- RCAF Omega
5- WWW Omega

Cheers,
Buster

I'm with @STANDY ; I wear all my watches. For me, if it's not wearable, it's not collectible. I collect mostly 50's Seamasters but have several other Omegas: Globemaster, Century and a Constellation. If I like the design, it's fair game but, if I don't wear it, it goes back on the market. I never bonded with my Speedmaster and never really wanted a vintage Seamaster 300. I don't limit myself to Omegas, either, but the theme is primarily 1950's designs.

RCAFBuster which Seamaster 300 model do you prefer?
efuaser im not limiting myself for just Omega, I already own Rolex, probably will get another in future. But wanted to get myself an Omega for now, I have been looking at some vintage Jaeger LeCoultre (recently memovox).

Never said you were; I was referring to myself. I recently picked up a LeCoultre Powermatic that I really like.

Oops my bad, misread it. Oh cool the powermatic's look great. Ive been told to avoid the gold filled JL, but most of the ones Ive been looking at are gold filled 🙁
What do you think of the JL Memovox ?

Omega has 3 lines that I consider to be iconic. The Speedmaster, of course with its link to space flight. The Constellation with its pie pan design and chronometer movements. The Seamaster. You should be able to get a Connie and a Speedy with that budget, depending on condition and rarity.

I picked up a Constellation first. It took me some time to settle on a Speedmaster that spoke to me.

Good luck with your hunt.

Is that your collection, @RCAFBuster? If so, wow that is fabulous. Is that a 2998 Speedy?

It's on my "to buy" list but I'm looking at my collection and realize that I need to start a sell off.

I think the SM 300 with Sword hands is my favourite. It wears well and doesn't feel too heavy.

Yes, these are all pieces from my collection, and they all get worn. Yes, that is a 2998-4 from 1961.

1) Speedmaster (any variation but my advice would be to start easy and build your way up so start with 145022 pre 1980)
2) SM300 (start with 165.024 and build up to a 14755 or 2913)
3) Constellation pie-pan
4) Constellation Marine Chronometer
5) Bond watch or Planet Ocean to wear everyday so you can admire your newly acquired treasures and polish them everyday
