What’s Your Summer Watch?

I'm on Florida, so it's nice and warm today. It is 82 degrees today. I'm pretty much rotating watches daily and never thought about a summer or any seasonal watch. Basically it's will I be at the beach or not. If not at the beach then I am wearing a Speedmaster. If I am at beach then it's going to be the modern ploprof in steel.

I don't think too much about what watches should be worn at any particular time of year, but if I was looking to define a true summer watch it should be light and airy, for me that leaves out most watches with dark dials and dark straps. I have this modded Ref. 3575.20 that I wear on a Genteel turquoise epi leather strap w/blue stitching that is a perfect summer watch, imo. Blue is a nice summer color.

Nothing on leather straps, so it's bracelets & NATOs only. I avoid the one chrome-plated case too. Bought this Hamilton for hot and/or wet duties and threw the original into the bag of spare straps, so it's the default choice on those sort of days. Snow forecast for tomorrow so I don't think I'll need it.
That USGI pattern watch needs a USGI strap! Marathon makes a good one and you can buy them on Amazon. Real MIL-SPEC and not expensive, either. I have one for my 38mm Hamilton when I don't want to wear it on a bracelet.

Your right @Spruce. I have gotten into the game too late to even bag myself a simple Airking so have to be content with watches like these. I love it though. So nice to wear.

And you can wear them when you walk down 'mean streets', if you ever do, without worrying about £4,000 on your wrist 😉

(And, tbh, I decided that an Omega 166.010, was a more financially viable proposition than an Airking)

I haven’t really got a summer watch , but I think this one will be getting a lot of wear when summer finally arrives .

What's the blue black strap? It looks very nice?

Thanks , It’s a Navy Blue Eulit Perlon two piece strap that I already had. I thought it suited the watch & gives it a more casual everyday look & it’s very comfortable too .

We had a few days that were in the mid and high sixties even one day hit 70f. Now it’s back in the 20-30’s and we had snow yesterday. Well on that 70 degree day I put the NATO on my entry level Rado captain cook and hit some hiking tails I had not seen in months. The only major change I make watch wise is not wearing certain vintage pieces when the humidity is heavy but This captain cook reminds me of the summer during the winter.

When I read your question, I translate it to a personal wish, meaning SUMMER = SUMMER HOLLIDAYS
So in that case I go for a 'unbreakable' and fully waterfproof one : my seiko SKX013

I may tend to bring along my FOIS (from 2017 : so it should bear just fine) and I must say that I feel more and more the urge to travel with some real vintage ones. I'll see what I will do this year but I tend to think of coming with my omega with bracelets :

Otherwise if I stick to summer = hot weather and I'm in my daily life (not too much sport) then I'll say like some of you "I don't differentiate summer or winter, I just wear them" as it is what I do.

I was just looking at a Baltic Aquascaphe thinking it would make a good summer watch with a vintage vibe! Beautiful watch but I don't know if I'm able to stomach the price.

This is my usual summer companion. The pic is from last year ... it's still on the bracelet and won't get back on the NATO for a month or two.

Lotsa watch for the money. Nothing feels or looks cheap. Reliable movement and great customer support. The straps and bracelet are first rate. I’ve been wearing the dual crown a lot this winter.

I don’t have a dedicated summer watch but I tend to wear my Rolex Datejust (almost) only when it’s warm enough for t-shirt outside.

My grandfather’s Nivada is also for warmer weather

While waiting for Tissot PR 516 (my other official vintage summer watch) to come back from service I thought a mesh bracelet + blue dial Genève could work as well. Looks surprisingly nice!
