A flight of whiskey from Colorado...followed by a flavorful Elk burger, accompanied with a Spanish red blend..

Oh, wow - I was a ski bum in Brecky before I started working on Wall Street. Literally, Wall Street.

The only thing better than a 9 was a ...9.5 and there were so many. I've still not met a 10 ('cept for my wife).

Hope she reads this!!

Stumbled with a brand new pizzeria in Okinawa, so brand new that we were the first customers that walked in and were served! A prosciutto and arugula pizza, baked in a wood burning oven was fantastic!

Does this involve pneumatic jack hammers and hot asphalt?

Simple Sunday dinner at home. Dry rubbed pork loin chops with Parmesan risotto and garlic snap peas. Serve with a nice 2012 Napa Cabernet at only $13 / btl.

You're the third person that's mentioned Kirkland Signature. Gotta get a bottle to see if it ranks as good as stated in the $10 - $15 range.

Not all Kirkland wines are equal. This one is as good as many $40 bottles I've had.

My nutritionist is always after me to eat more protein, so we made a batch of chilli yesterday...

Used lean ground beef (drained of fat), lots of beans, and tons of spices, along with some home made beef stock, and it's great.

I am a snacker, so need something savoury to munch on, and since I'm trying to be good, we made some home made snacks yesterday rather than buy the sodium heavy versions at the store...

Low in sodium and not a lot of fat, and we used lots of spices, so it's pretty tasty...in particular on the deck on a warm day with a beer...

Cheers, Al

I was at a restaurant in Rome, sitting outside and an American family walked up and asked the waiter if he knew where the nearest branch of olive garden was. amazing but true.

Al,

Can you find ground Bison up there? We use that in our chili to make it healthier. It's about 1/2 the fat and calories of beef and hard to taste the difference.

We used to have a herd living about 5 km away from my house that was privately owned, so not sure if he sold any to local stores. Unfortunately over the winter the butcher we used (who would have been my best bet to bring something like that in for me) closed up shop, so there are nothing but large grocery chains left close to me. But good a suggestion and I will ask around to see if I can find it.

Cheers, Al

It's much easier to find than it use to be. The large chain grocery stores around here all carry it, the natural food places do, and Costco does too.
