I can’t compete with that 1933 Rolex from @Canuck, but my first nice mechanical (circa 2008) will always be my favorite. I would get buried in it, but I’m all in for cremation, so I will leave instructions to leave it off me!
Would kill for a 6241, 2998, or a 2446 (like everyone else) but this one makes me smile all the time. Even if I could afford one of those big boys I'd still need this one in my collection.
For me, it's probably this. I don't even like dive watches as a rule, but for some reason I'm in love with this. It's a 1972 6105-8110 that I foolishly bought at an auction; it cost me a fortune to buy and fix, and it's not exactly a pristine example after all that. But it feels so good on the wrist and it also feels indestructible.
It’s barely been off of my wrist since last December when I picked it up. The cliched choice for sure but I love it.
The one I am wearing. Today it is my beaten up 005.003.64 Speedmaster which I bought in the 90's. She has led a very hard and salty life having been used as intended in a hostile environment with me being the second owner. Recently she has been serviced by Simon. She now carries with her some memories of my own special occasions.
I’ve been doing my Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT lately. The strap is so dang comfortable...and I love the blue face and “dial style.” Is that a term ?
Right now it is this "sparkle": Photo does not do it justice! These are so much better IRL (just to think of the light playing with the dial. Wonderful!).
Where did you buy the strap? I've been looking for one for my Aqua Terra, so I hope you could share your source.
The blue strap came with the watch when purchased. It’s the standard Omega Rubber with the titanium fold over clasp. Very comfortable...and of course water Proof. I have toyed with the idea of fitting it with a blue leather strap as I probably Won’t use the watch for any nautical adventures under the surface. I’ve got My Explorer 2 for that .
Today I ‘m thinking of giving my Z33 a bit of love. It’s a bright clear blue day here For once...Vancouver standards. Great day for an aviation watch.
Ah I see. I might try and look for one sold separately. Really looks good. Might look pretty good, as well.
Of the watches I have bought, without doubt, the 16030. But the one I wouldn't part with and wear to my manual labor, factory worker job most every day, is my maternal Grandfather's utilitarian, but perfectly accurate, Timex Marlin on a cheap nylon strap.....cuz that's how that veteran of the Battle of the Bulge ( Bastogne) wore it. A typical Maine Yankee....waste not, want not. I think he would shake his head in amusement and give me that wry smile if he could see my watch collection today.
I had to pass up a NOS company sales sample of one of the Westend company Sowar watches years ago at a very reasonable price. They were clearing out their storage rooms and found the watch forgotten on a shelf. They offered it for half the original retail value, which was little more than these went for heavily used and beat up. I had unexpected expenses at the time, but later wished I'd made room for it in the budget. IIRC it looked like this
I’m lucky to have a couple I really like at the moment. The Apollo 8 for one but I’ve been wearing this more recently and the versatility with both bracelets and 3 bezels make it probably the one for me. If I ever go down to one watch, this will be it!
