This is my tool watch...a Damasko (pic from internet). Sorry...but Omegas, Rolexes, and Panerai are relegated to jewelry watches nowadays. [IMG]

I banged it against everything. Chrono is used for timing my runs. I work on GMT time, so the bezel gets used quite a bit. Anti-magnetic for the times when my son decided to stick a powerful magnetic onto the watch. And water resistance enough to handle the big pile of dishes after dinner.

Basically my entire collection and want list...

    Big crown sub
    Navitimer 806
    Sm300
    Seiko diver any flavor...
    Speedy pro.

To me there is a purity of purpose and aesthetics on the classic tool watches that can't be beat. I could write pages on why those watches are perfect.

I have an old 6309-7040 and just put a cheeky offer in for one of the 62MAS modern interpretation things. The SBDC051. If that falls through, which it probably will, I will be after a Doxa 1200T Professional. @wareagle35 how do you find yours for size, weight and general wear? Is it a bit bulky, heavy and catches on stuff or is it mostly not noticeable?

I know many people here hate it, but the Seiko Monster is my go-to watch for when something might actually happen to it. And it hasn't let me down so far.

    Nice thread @wareagle35
Phil - I think you’ve distilled down the essence of “The Tool Watch” there. That is pretty much the perfect Watch Box, everyone is top of the shop. If I was only allowed two watches to wear everyday from my selection (just writing that made me quite anxious):-
    Speedy Pro
Seiko Diver - toss up between Turtle and SKX, ok....Turtle!
Looking forward to hearing more about your project!

My first really good watch was an iconic, first generation (ref. 666) IWC Ingenieur. I have owned one or more in different variations over the many years since.

Here is a group shot from several years ago, and my current favorite, a rare variation of the second generation (ref. 866):

For 25 years it was my Speedmaster Professional. It's been semi retired to dress watch status since I got this:

My favourite has to be my '67 Sub

However, my daily wearer really does take some (and take a) beating

All of that said, this little thing has bags of character though, once it's NOS strap arrives, it's going on the market.

Without a single doubt: 16600. And on the second spot the 16610. Dont get me wrong on this, i love Omega but these 2 seem to take a beating with a smile.

I completely forgot about an old Tag Heuer I had, probably the hardest wearing watch I have had. I was wearing a knock-off US$40 Rolex at work and the bracelet broke. The watch hit the deck and the crystal fell out. The only other watch I had was a Tag so I wore that, for what I thought would only be a short period. Turned out to be 8 years. Changed the battery a few times but eventually one of the pushers fell out. I was going to throw it in the bin but being a sentimental git I paid more than it was worth to get it repaired.
The damage done and the cost. Don't know how I got cuts on the case back. The small cuts on the glass and probably the bezel were weld spatter. It also fell out of a small boat doing 20 odd Knots, 60+C temperatures up the Gulf and -20 odd C in Nova Scotia.

They tarted it up quite well.

At present a Seiko is being abused in the darkest depth of the Engineroom. But he is holding up quite well.

After seeing one of these in the flesh, they have climbed the desirability scales for me... Great design, heft and bracelets that are beautifully made.
