For our 5th wedding anniversary, I bought my wife a pair of diamond earrings. She got me... nothing. Honestly is was totally fine, but she felt bad, so gave me a GMT2 for our 6th. That was 2001, and it's the watch I've worn the most by far. I will always keep that one.
Talk about overshoot- but I remember what GMT’s cost back then- about the same as a nice set of diamond earrings.

I wish my wife would forget our anniversary. Sniff, sniff.😁 I kid of course, but that is a great make up anniversary gift.

If truly exiting then nothing mechanical. I just want to put it on and go.

I finally solved that problem. It's called a "Reminder". You put it on your iPhone and set it to remind you several times.

I "exited" my overseas duty in '72 by treating myself to a good camera, tailored suits, a component stereo and a good watch.
The watch is all I have left and it will spend the rest of my days with me.
Dad is that you? I still remember playing with my dads reel to reel stereo he got In Japan while on leave from Vietnam, nuts!

reel to reel stereo
I had a Teac 4010 that weighed about 100 lbs. Just sold it a couple of years ago.

Don't kid about "Dad", my wife says every kid in Korea looks like me........she can be mean sometimes.

I grew up with my dad telling me, “Mama’s baby, daddy’s maybe”, so yeah I have issues....

I got a Seamaster 300m in blue (212.30.41.20.03.001) for my 40th. After some issues with the rotor and date wheel, I got the current generation (210.30.42.20.03.001). This watch will be with me forever.
