What's the benefit of buying a broken buckle?

As I continue to sweep for gold plated omega buckles, I saw this piece.

I mean, the seller is honest, the buckle indeed "has damage".

But what is the benefit of buying a genuine broken Omega buckle, even at a mere £15

Maybe I've missed something...

I’m guessing a little solder could fix it up relatively easy. Seems a little pricey for me but I don’t know the market for these types of buckles

Maybe the buyer mistakenly thought it was gold that could be scrapped.

Were it solid gold, sure. But it is plated (brass?), I'm not sure a competent jeweller would bother with this thing. The amount of work involved may cost more than a proper 18k buckle.

That's what I thought, its also missing part of the buckle, so unless you have a spare pin lying around, I don't see the point.

Glad to see I'm not missing something
