Hi, not sure if this is allowed but I’ll give it a try.

I’m looking for a rough value for a watch I’m looking to buy please.

Ive not been tracking Speedmaster prices for a long time so just wanted to get some feedback from the Hive mind.

It’s a 145.022 with the 1450 bracelet and which is in excellent condition.

I’ve held the watch in my hand and it’s in very very good condition cosmetically. It’s comes from a very trusted source too but he has no idea on price either has it’s been sitting a drawer for years.

It was last serviced by omega 6 years ago.

Comes with a rather unusual box which I think is period correct.

Thanks.

Pics aren’t amazing but as I’ve held the watch etc the condition is spot on and not a concern.

I’m thinking it’s worth around £5000 ish for a private sale. It’s being sold by a friend rather than a Dealer etc

Based on the serial number, this is a piece made in the early 1990s. The bezel fits, Omega started using this after 1990. However, the long S and the drop R were only available until 1989. I think the dial was replaced. As far as I know, the 145.0022 was only available until 1989, but according to the serial number, this is a piece from the 90s. I'm just a Speedmaster fan, I might be wrong about some things, but that's how I see it.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

So, unless I misunderstand you, you think the dial is too early for the watch ?

The mismatched lume on the replacement hands would probably be a dealbreaker for me. I know it sounds picky, but I just don't like the look.

Even if I liked the watch, that sounds insane for a watch that really isn't a collectible.

I’ve just looked at a few examples on Ch24 and although it’s difficult to find exact comparisons in terms of years, I do see what you mean about the text on the dial. I can’t see any other 145.022s with the variation of Speedmaster text.

I think so. This wouldn't be the first time. For example, my '83 speedy has a pre-'74 stepdial. It's also possible that the case is older and someone put the movement in it and replaced the bezel. I don't really know much about cases, but I'll try to look into it when I have time.🙂

Regardless of the fact that the dial has been replaced and, as someone wrote above, the hands too, this could still be a good watch. If you like it and it's not important for everything to be "perfect", I think it's a nice piece.

Yes, if the price is right. I like it for 2.5k£. For 5k£ (or almost anything in between those numbers) not so much.
And even if it’s 2.5k£… Speedy Pros aren’t particularly rare or uncommon, prices have come down, why buy something mediocre?

I’ve been doing some digging and this is what I found. The serial means the watch could be as old as 1988?

It’s 48240622

Yes, I also check the Speedmaster inscriptions based on this website, but the year of manufacture based on the serial number is different everywhere. There is a site that actually puts it at 1988, but I found it after 1990 on two different websites. I have no idea which one is authentic.😕

However, if the movement and dial are from 1988, then the bezel was replaced because it's from after 90.😅 It's not easy.

But pay attention to something! The serial number of the Speedmaster is different from the Omega serial number! It is important to look at a table that specifically applies to the Speedmaster. Maybe this was the mistake.

Although the ref number and caliber are correct.... I've been trying to understand this for years, and I still haven't succeeded😅
