I've met case, marker, bracelet, dial, brand, series, limited, and plain jane watch collectors from all of the world!

Curious to know what type of collector you categories yourself as?

Please include photos to support your response!

Here are photos of my current collection. I buy what I love, plain and simple. I think if you focus on acquiring pieces that you genuinely love you can't screw up, and having an invested interest in the history or make up of a particular piece adds that much more value to your collection. If a piece has a particularly unique story, it makes me obsess over the story that has conceived the originality and condition present. I'm a sucker for anything truly nos, but condition won't make me run away if it catches my eye.

Hope this is a fun exercise for users who may have no taken a hard look at their collection in awhile!

    Best,

    Thomas

I like to try out new brands, styles, etc - who knows maybe I'll like them. I like to learn

I like to wear what I buy, which means I don't like NOS or MINT for my own personal collection.

And almost everything (except sentimentals) is for sale at the right price

Me? I'm of the "semi-retired and slowly regaining my sanity" type.

If I can't wear it and not worry too much about it, not for me.. silver Casio has taken 7 years of beatings on cars and boats, the rest are fun/sentimental from family or for dressing up.
Have a speedy 145022 waiting for me in Florida for dressing up and I think that's me happy for a while yet...

I like to wear what I buy. I'm not collecting any specific brands, but buy what I can't live without.. Here are some of my favourites at the moment:

    Married white male.
Need parameters like sexual orientation and limiting the number of brands I collect.

I am an entirely undisciplined aquisitor. I see something shiny and pretty in front of me and I want it.

I am still finding out what I like and what interests me in watches but here's where I'm at now.

Mechanical only. Even though I see the occasional Accutron that I want.

Chronographs. Alarms. Stylish dress watches. Nothing too big - I find modern watches are often huge monstrosities and some divers are too- and I now won't consider some of the small late 40's and early 50's pieces that I bought early on. 34 to 38mm is the sweet spot...

I'll buy gold capped or filled but will not consider chrome plated.

I'll buy a obscure branded piece if I like the style and movement package.

And pricey watches are just not practical for me now but as I learn more about what is real quality I'll spend the money; having said that a beautiful inexpensive piece is a thrill.

A selection of some favorites - but most of my watches when I strap them on become my favorite:
