80's Quartz watches are fairly undocumented, and not particularly collected currently (read not valuable.) It would help if you took the case back off and took a picture of the movement and the inside of the caseback.

Based on the lousy fit of the dial in the bezel opening, and numerous other suspicions about the apparent inferior quality, I will reserve making any firm judgements. But I have a strong suspicion.........!

Well have some good news and some bad news.

A guy is in the hospital with two broken legs. The nurse comes in and tells him that there's good news and bad news.
The guy asks for the bad news first.
The nurse says, "We're going to have to remove your legs."
Then the guy asks for the good news.
The nurse says, "The guy beside you wants to buy your sneakers."

Oh...back to the watch....bad news am afraid.

Thanks at least for enjoying the spirit of the post. Sorry about the outcome though re the watch. Never good to hear. But welcome onto the site and hope you have fun here and learn as you go.

I was leaning towards a fake also but it could have been damage. These 80's Quartz are sometimes surprising.
